“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Anchored’s scripture verse has always been Joshua 1:9 It has always kept us on track. If we ever feel confused about our why or our purpose we dig into His word and see our path more clearly. The word of God inspires us each and every day.
What does it mean to be inspired by someone? Usually when someone inspires you, you feel enthusiastic, excited, motivated and encouraged to do something more than you thought you could.
Usually when we think about inspiration, we look to people and what we find is ordinary people like you and me who have done extraordinary things.
Let’s look at two people who have inspired us from history, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King. These are two ordinary people who believed in God and in themselves. They believed they could step out and give the world what it needed using their voices and their actions. God does not call the qualified – check out the bible and see many examples that demonstrate this fact. When we set out in what God has called us to do, we are God qualified, we are God inspired. So, as you know both of these ordinary people changed history. They became leaders who truly made a difference in spite of almost impossible odds.
Both of these people came from difficult lives. Each faced odds stacked against them, things most people would have quite over. Yet, they faced their fears because they had faith in God and in the person He made them to be. They were true to who God created them to be which made them qualified for the assignment.
“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” C.S. Lewis
Now the problem a lot of us face is that we can’t see the greatness within ourselves, we see only the unqualified person. We don’t see the greatness God created in us. Each one of us has purpose and are made for more. We’ve got this, because God’s got us. God, so loved the world…each one of us!!!
Honestly some of the most inspiring people go unnoticed, they don’t have thousands of followers and don’t get a bunch of likes on social media, they aren’t “influencers”. They just make the world a better place in their little corner of it without making it a big deal. They influence their corner of the world for the better. They love well.
We need to understand we are inspirational to other people around us. No matter what you feel you have or haven’t achieved. No matter where you are, you have the ability to inspire. God created us to stand out, to step out and to be His hands and feet. It’s not about a big “look at what I’ve done” moment. Its in the quiet moments, the ones no one sees except that person who needed a leg up, some food, or clothes or someone to listen to them, really listen. What you do matters to someone.
Giving back to others is inspiring to both the giver and the receiver. It comes with so many benefits. You never know who you’re going to impact when you give time, volunteer, or give monetarily. You don’t always see whose life you might be changing for the better. We don’t always see the impact.
Words without action are just noise. Be the change you want to see in this world. Remember to be authentic in who you are. No one is quite like you; the world needs you.
Remember, you don’t have to have it all together to go for it, to reach for that dream, to give back and be an inspiration. Don’t wait, there is no better time than now to give back to your little corner of the world. You’ve got this.
To flourish, be consistent and remember “Until then, there are three things that remain, faith, hope and love-yet love surpasses them all. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
