Do you wake up each morning and take a look in the mirror and say “Girl, you are fearfully and wonderfully made”? Maybe, and if you do…THAT’S AMAZING! For most of us, I think we look in the mirror and just see flaws and imperfections. We judge ourselves so harshly, we hold the mirror as a comparison to what WE think is perfect and where we fall short. I mean, of course we do. We’re not looking at the real us, the one He created. We see the worn down, tired parts. If we looked at ourselves the way God sees us and the way He made us, we would see someone not so flawed or ordinary, but something remarkable. We are a result of His divine plan, we are unique and built for something more.
In Genesis 1:27 NIV "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
What does this even mean?
God created us fearfully and wonderfully. The Hebrew word that is translated “fearfully” is yare. In the Old Testament Hebrew dictionary, it means “to be afraid, stand in awe, fear”. When used in regards to an exalted person it means “standing in awe”. This implies honor, reverence and respect for the person. To be “fearfully” made means to be “awesomely” made. We were made to stand in reverent worship to God.
We are set apart as the brightest and clearest picture of God’s creativity. Just look around you at the beautiful backdrop of this world. The seasons in all their splendor full of color and texture that artists have been painting and exploring for centuries. God, created you the same way. That is all of us whether you are believer or not, His hand was on the creation of you. We were designed by the most incredible Artist the world will ever know. He created mountains, rivers, trees, the sun and the moon and you, wonderful, beautiful you. Now lets just think about your heart for a second…the heart is a muscle that we need to live. It is designed magnificently. It is the center of our emotions. Our hearts are fearfully and wonderfully made, allowing us to know and love God on a personal level. Our hearts are full of emotion (feelings) Our hearts tell the story of who we are, our personality, our hopes, our hurts, and our dreams. Are hearts being the clear picture of who we are.
Luke 6:45 NIV “A good man brings good things stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
I pray that you can see the you He created you to be and step out into that boldly and wake up and thank God for making you fearfully and wonderfully!!! Be Bold in it!
Joshua 1:9 NLT “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
