Having courage does not mean that we are unafraid.
Having courage and showing courage mean we face our fears
We are able to say,
“I have fallen, but I will get up.”
Maya Angelou

James (Jacob) 1:3 “For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things.”

This month for our The Lois Hole Women’s Hospital (LHWH) fundraiser we have made keys that say “Courage” and all the proceeds from these keys will go to that foundation.

Why LHWH?  Simple, because its dedicated to women’s health and because of the woman it’s named after.  We love our community and whether you are a man or a woman, women impact your life. So, as a community we have chosen LHWH. It fits.

Lois Hole was a woman of great courage and determination with such a beautiful heart. She was a woman of grace, warmth, passion and honesty. She cared deeply for her family, her business and public service. She gave back, she served her community and our province for well over 30 years. She served as school trustee, was chancellor of the U of A, was named Honorary Princess Patricia, had honorary degrees from various Universities in Alberta and was a huge advocate for libraries, education, the arts and health care.  She made her final public appearance as the guest of honor announcing Lois Hole Women’s Hospital. She was thrilled to have her name forever attached to the specific and specialized needs of women’s health.  Lois Hole passed away in January, 2005 after a courageous battle with abdominal cancer.  Her legacy is vast and she is someone we respect, honor and gain great inspiration from.

“My hope is that when people come to this new hospital and see my name, they are going to have little extra hope-that real uplifting hope-that things will turn out okay.” LOIS HOLE

Since starting Anchored again in October, we have had the honor of meeting women of immeasurable courage stepping out into the unknown bravely, with conviction, purpose and hope.  Women with terminal illness fighting for their lives, women with children with terminal illnesses fighting for their child, women overcoming abuse, living with the loss of a loved one, changing careers, starting a business, starting a ministry movement to name only a few of our encounters. You all inspire us to be better to be brave and to have courage.  We are so grateful for the connection and this amazing community of courageous, beautifully imperfect world changes.  No matter your belief system, your struggle, obstacles, setbacks, victories and successes, please remember you have a courageous community around you to laugh with you, cry with you, celebrate you and inspire you to keep moving forward and you are not alone.

Be Bold in who are and why you were made. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are more than conquerors!!!

Love, Kath
